Smokin on a B, Dippin through the streets, Bumpin R&B...
The weather in Shanghai has started to get better now. As I sit behind my cubby typing this entry, I'm looking back at my day today and realizing that I spent quite a bit of it daydreaming. It happens every once in a while, and this feeling of unproductivity goes down like cherry flavoured Triminicol DM, a cough medicine flavour that I hate.
I've been working here for almost 2 years now, and in Shanghai for close to 3 years. Time sure flies. The amount of energy and change that goes on in this city is definitely something else though, I can't imagine staying in Toronto during this time in the world's most dynamic city. Always something new going on, new information to process, new people to meet, new lessons to learn. I guess it doesn't help that I think I have attention deficit disorder either, I'm soaking up everything as fast as I can with the attention span of a 4 year old child. So much randomness going on here, and it's evident in my writings.
Last week, was Shanghai Fashion Festival. I went to a couple fashion shows, the models were SO damn hot. I'd definitely set this party off right.
She says she wants some Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, a little Anita will definitely set this party off right...
So after about a year and a half at our current office, we are moving to a new place. I've been officially promoted to Senior Account Manager, and business is picking up. It's Friday though, so there is a bit of time to daydream about other things. I always have girl stories, but am often hesitant to talk about them. This one is quite the kicker though, because I met a hottie at the clubs the other night. I'd go on to describe her, but it would just be wrong because I found out that she was 17. I'm officially the old guy at the club. But as I think about this, it seems that the media really glorifies females at ages 17 - 27, at least media geared towards men does. So as I get older, the more I understand the amount of restraint men have against the powerful force of sexual attraction.
On an unrelated note, Linda was telling me how paranoid her mom was about coming to Shanghai / China. I would just like to clarify however, that Shanghai is one of the safest places to be in China. There have been bar fights, road rage, arguments etc., but this is about as far as it seems to go and results for the exact same reasons as it does back home. The media could be preventing access to the true stories, and there definitely are pick pockets in the more tourist areas of Shanghai, but in my 3 years of living in Shanghai, me nor my friends have experienced anything to justify any type of paranoia of coming to visit. So jump on the bandwagon and visit Shanghai!
Speaking of bandwagon, I was forwarded a series of jokes the other day that made me laugh. This one, made me laugh aloud in front of my computer: "There was another war-related casualty today. The French were injured when they tried to jump on our bandwagon." Jay Leno. I know great sense of humour right???
Happy birthdays to Alastair, Richard, Norman, Angie, Colman, Ryan, Irene and Charles!
