  • Cracka Ass Cracka

I really have nothing to talk about.  I thought I'd write just because it's been past 10 days, and I haven't gotten 10 props yet.

I finally had some time to write today, and I really enjoy reading the stories of other xangans.  I appreciate the dashes of pop culture often thrown into those blogs as well.  Being in China, I haven't been as exposed to pop culture mass media as I did back at home.  I only just found out that there was going to be another James Bond movie!  And why anyone would ban Napster or Kazaa just baffles me.

Because of this wonderful invention, I've been able to catch all my Star Trek Enterprise episodes.  I've seen them all, from Season 1 Episode 1 til the latest Season 2 Episode 9.  I've been watching Alias a lot too, still in the first season, but damn that's a good show.

Your different xanga's also do a great deal in helping me decide what to download as well.  Kayoko's comment on this Japanese group Chemistry made me download a bunch of their songs (thanks!).  Kirb, your comment about Nelly Furtado and Jurassic 5 was cool too.  I'm also going to contact Gianfranco Ferre's distributors here in Shanghai to see if they're at all interested in the Shanghai Fashion Festival this year.  And Souxie's comments on the Transformers brought me to the Cartoon Network website, where I learned the cool fucken news about Transformers Armada and The Justice League of America.

Remember the good old days?  All the wonderful TV Cartoons?  Thundercats, Silverhawks, G.I. Joe, Justice League of America, He-Man, Pro-Stars, Fat Albert, Bravestarr, Mighty Mouse, Tom & Jerry, M.A.S.K., Transformers, Voltron, Astroboy, Inspector Gadget, Le Petit Prince, Ghostbusters,The Getalong Gang, Tigersharks, Simon and the Chipmunks, Teddy Ruxpin, J.E.M. and the Holograms, Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, Raggedy Ann and Andy, She-Ra, Fables of the Green Forest, Smurfs...

The only person I don't have to thank is Marv, because even though he's spent his last few blogs writing about some Justin Timberlake guy, I've used the better of my judgement to refrain from touching anything about JT.  God sakes, you taped over porn Marv.

Oops, a little over 10 days.  Mad busy, here's some more pics for you photo hungry freaks.

    Moet & Chandon Fashion Dinner...

Okay, so my Rule of 10 idea was quite good in principle, but quite difficult to enforce.  I think the pic of that kid scared some people away from my site.  I'll have to push 5 weblogs through so that he can be relegated to the Next 5 >> pages.  Thank you Kirb for ensuring compliance.

The last couple of days have been quite hectic.  Our company has been endorsed by the organizing commitee of the Shanghai International Fashion Model Contest to promote, conceptualize and event manage the 9th annual Shanghai International Fashion Model Contest.  Eighty models - 40 from around the world, 40 from China - all to compete in a 3 night competition to include fine food, entertainment and the latest fashions to come into China.  Needless to say, this is quite a huge responsibility.  On top of trying to lure top fashion sponsors, we've got a potential audience of a couple hundred million to satisfy since the event will be broadcast nationwide during prime-time.

I've been trying to really get out there to meet people but it has been quite difficult due to lack of funds.  I still have to bar whore every once in a while.  I didn't buy a single drink last night at Pegasus and at Guandii.  I basically whored 3 glasses of some cheezy red wine, and 4 glasses of Moët & Chandon.  My wages finally go up starting November, so I won't have to resort to the lowly things that Marv has to do to get by month to month.

I've been spending the last 2 weeks or so madly looking for a place.  Renting a good place in Shanghai and not being ripped off by the locals is quite a difficult task.  Finding a decent place to rent in SH begins with going to a local area real estate agent and listing your demands.  Mine are the following:

    - fully furnished
    - must be close to subway (within 15 mins walk)
    - 2 bedrooms, living room, dining room
    - relatively newly renovated
    - roughly 100 square meters (and up)
    - ability to catch HK TV channels
    - ADSL Internet connection
    - roughly 4,000 RMB per month

My friend Andy and Shihwen spent 2 weeks looking before settling on a place for about 8,000 RMB.  They saw a total of about 60 - 70 places and had 7 agents working for them.  I have 4 agents working for me and have seen about 15 places so far.  I like this one place that's really pushing the budget at 4,500 RMB per month, very convenient location but a little smaller than 100 square meters.  It's fucked because the real estate agents are incentivised to get you to rent at a higher price.  Their commission is half a month's rent so the higher they can get you to pay, the more they get.

I want to get my place before next weekend so that I can have a housewarming party before my mom gets into town, she's planning to stay for a couple months!

Kazaa is the greatest thing in the world.  I've got all the episodes of Star Trek Enterprise downloaded, a couple of Crank Yankers and am currently working on Alias.  Spoonie Luv is the man.  Anything else I should be looking out for?  I'm so disconnected when it comes to Western pop culture now.

    Happy Birthday Gracie!
