Wacky...
So did you guys know that the first manned spacecraft was of Chinese origin and not American or Russian? Click on the picture...
I've been at Stanford for about 5 days now, and this whole Stanford atmosphere never ceases to amaze me. I think I've gotten bitten by the entrepreneurial bug that seems to have infected most of the students here, yes, I'm thinking of starting my own company. What have I got to lose?
Many of the speakers I've met over these next couple of days might be very helpful for me in preparing my conference as well. One VC I met, a fellow Torontonian, flies between Asia and the Silicon Valley constantly. I approached him because his involvement with Asia hoping that he might have some contacts in SH for me. Well it turns out that he does have a few, including Jiang Zemin's son. For those of you who don't know, Jiang Zemin is the president of China. Anyways, this guy knows "Eric" on a first name basis. Nutty, eh?

yeah, i agree w/hershey hugs.. if u 've got connections, u're pretty much set for a great life in china. the gov and politics are so corrupted now...
Thanks Si. =) We have pics from the ArtSci formal too.
So I think you should really kill two birds with one stone... network to gain connections and score gracie a bf... you know my type. =)
how's the corruption in China? i hear that once you get into inner circles of politics your hands will not be clean again. the usual - bribery, nepotism, etc. my dad's younger brother is an advisor to the prime minister as well, and i asked if they could help me find a job in China. my dad advised me not to ask for favours, or get involved with the Communist politics, because they all expect something in return. As you know, China runs on a "quanxi" system, it's wise not to ask for favours - always give something in return. because power changes very quickly... it could be in a few years... and if you are on the wrong side (ie powerful politician)/ when the new power comes in... in my opinion you could be in trouble. (Trust me I hear dirty stories about politics in China from relatives in the know). Many people still haven't forgotten about things like Tiananmen Square.
